Charles Sharpe’s woodturning practice is the culmination of early training in carpentry and joinery that has gradually developed into a specialisation into a more purely artistic expression of his love for wood. Charles works mainly with native timbers although he also works with some exotic timbers from ethically maintained sources. He designs his pieces with both the perfection of form and the enhancement of the naturally occurring attributes of the timber as his goal.
His work is shown in prestigious galleries in East Anglia and he is an exhibiting member of Norfolk Contemporary Craft Society and Breckland Artists. His work has been selected for inclusion in the annual Salthouse exhibition and in the Norwich Fringe Festival. Charles is a member of the Register of Professional Turners and his work is held in major collections both in this country and Internationally. |
