Samuel Thomas

Samuel Thomas is a freelance artist living and working in his studio in Cromer, North Norfolk. Samuel was born and grew up in Cromer, returning after living and studying graphic design in Leeds and Manchester. He knew that Norfolk was the place to dedicate more time to his love of painting.

The majority of his work is of a Contemporary style taking influence from a culmination of Art Deco, Japanese print, Graphic and Retro styles.
The work can be described as modern and fresh, yet these influences make it timeless. His inspiration comes predominantly from his North Norfolk surroundings. His work can be described as vivid, fresh, and highly distinctive. He uses fresh clean colours and smooth slick lines and shapes, usually working on large scale canvas to deliver a bold and striking impact which can mesmerise the viewer. He uses acrylic paint, and all of his work is sketched and painted by hand without the use of stencils. He likes to leave sections of the white canvas bare to allow the painting to breath and create a sense of vivid light and depth.

He uses his paintings to deliver his unique vision of the world. Stylised and unrealistic, the paintings aim to capture those moments in life that are picture perfect for eternity. Samuel’s aim is to create paintings that are unusual, and unique, yet ultimately beautiful.
